D-Zone · a Saras.Care program

The podcast the young people built themselves.

They chose the topic, wrote the questions, set up the room and worked the cameras. This page is for the people who did it — and it is theirs to correct.

The crew, Melbourne, November 2025

The series

One question, three ways in.

The format was written in November 2024 under the title Raising Voices: Youth Empowerment and the Fight for Rights, and it is built as one arc in three segments.

The idea is that young people run it end to end — book the room, set the cameras, ask the questions, cut the tape. Two sessions were recorded, in November and December 2025: a first on-camera run, and a planning meeting with six people around the table and cameras on every side.

Nothing has been released yet. The format, the questions and the footage all exist. What the series needs now is an edit, and more young people who want to be part of it.

Segment one

Rights

A long-form interview with an author on the rights young people have and how rarely they are told about them.

Segment two

Emerging leaders

A recurring slot for a young person doing something in their own community, in their own words.

Segment three

Youth leaders

A student who got roughly a quarter of her year level behind a petition to make schools value non-STEM subjects.

The people

Who is in the room.

These profiles are a first draft, put together from the session recordings and the photos taken on the day. If you are on this page, send us your own words and your own photo and we will swap them in — nothing here is fixed.

Help us finish this

These faces need their names.

Six more of the crew are in the photos from the day, and we have not matched them to a name yet. If one of them is you, tell us what to call you and how you want to be described. We will put it up in your words.

Working the other way round: we have the names Prashant, who worked the cameras and put the case for taking the program into high schools, Kyra and Devamithra R, both crew on the December sessions, and Gautam Gupta at Saras.Care — but no photograph of any of them yet. And if you were part of this and are not on this page in any form, that is our gap, not yours. Tell us and we will add you.

If this is you

Tell us who you actually are.

We have written these from the tape, which means we have almost certainly got something wrong. Send a sentence about yourself, the way you want to be described, and a photo you like — and we will put it up as you wrote it.

A face without a name, a name without a face, or not on this page at all — all three are worth an email.
